Sharing is caring!

From 4 January 2021, people living in Cheshire and Staffordshire will be able to write their wills using a new easy to access and affordable will writing service from Step Legal.

With meetings available ‘in person’ at our offices in Crewe, virtually via Zoom or Skype or even at your home where required, our mission is to make creating a will as simple as possible. We also want to keep costs as low as we can, so we have a range of budget friendly options for you to choose from and if you are an existing client you will also be entitled to a discount.

Announcing the launch of the service, Director of Step Legal, Abid Hussain, said:

Making a will is probably the most important thing that you can do to ensure your affairs are in order when you die and that your money and property passes to your family and loved ones in accordance with your wishes, and with as little inheritance tax payable as feasible.  It is also the only way of ensuring that you can determine who has responsibility for administering your will when you are gone and whose job it will be to ensure that your wishes are respected.

Lead solicitor in the new will writing team, Hannah Killer, added:

“It is a sad fact that thousands of people in England and Wales die each year without a will being in place and that, as a result of this, the assets they have worked hard to build up during their lives do not end up being passed on in the way that they had hoped for.  This is because, where no will exists, a set of statutory rules will be applied to determine who should get what and which only make provision for certain members of your close family to benefit from your estate. No provision is made for someone you may have lived with, unless you were married or in a civil partnership, and neither is there any provision for money to be left to charities.

It is to avoid people being inadvertently caught out by these rules that we have decided to establish a new will writing facility and why we would encourage as many people as possible to use it.  This includes:

  • First time buyers and property owners who are cohabiting;
  • Young families with small children – particularly where you also need to put legal guardianship arrangements in place and also perhaps to establish a trust;
  • Older couples who have remarried and have step children; and
  • Accident victims who have received substantial compensation.

Getting the ball rolling is easy.  You simply need to call Hannah on 0800 195 6412 and request a free, no obligation quotation. You can also visit the wills section of our website, where you will find lots of additional information and further details on the range of services on offer.

And remember, if you use Step Legal to buy or sell a property, or to make a personal injury, medical negligence or professional negligence claim, you will automatically be entitled to receive a discount on our usual will writing fees.
